UVic Greens Pub Crawl to benefit Island Sexual Health

colourful condoms prevent STIs

The Awesome UVic Greens are hosting a Pub Crawl beginning at Yates Street Tap House on Friday November 14th at 7:30. You can buy tickets at our Quadra Street location any time we’re open!

The UVic Greens are a club at UVic. We support the Green Party and strive to exemplify and advance the 6 core values of the Global Greens: social justice, ecological wisdom, non-violence, respect for diversity, participatory democracy and sustainability. You can get in touch with us through Facebook, at or on campus.

They are generously donating the funds raised to our organization – we are so grateful :)

Here are the details on what promises to be an awesome night:

7:30pm: meet at Yates Street Taphouse (one free drink included with ticket, a semi-private section and food available for order!)

9:00pm: move on to Sticky Wicket (no line!)
10:30pm: head to Touch (no cover and no line!)

Tickets:
$25 includes a ticket to the pubcrawl and an awesome T-Shirt that says “Heat Up The Bedroom Not The Planet” on the front and “UVic Greens Pubcrawl for Sexual Health Nov. 14 2014” on the back.

$15 for just the ticket to the pubcrawl. If you go this route, please wear green to the event so that we can keep everyone together and no one gets left behind.

The Island Sexual Health Society and their clinic provide absolutely essential health services to students and the broader community. Unfortunately, a lack of funding has recently threatened their capacity to continue to offer accessible, inclusive and quality sexual and reproductive health services. This would have devastating results for the entire community, but especially for youth, women, low income earners, those without a family doctor, Indigenous peoples, people of colour, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Thankfully, a large community response has meant that the doors are still open. We are organizing a pubcrawl to help support their important work. 100% of the profits received will go to the Island Sexual Health Society. For more information about the Island Sexual Health Society: http://www.islandsexualhealth.org/

Please don’t drive under the influence. Doing so endangers not only your own life but the lives of other members of the community and is illegal. The last bus going from near Distrikt to UVic is the 15 which leaves shortly after 1:30am. Yellow Cab of Victoria has hybrid cabs and can be reached at 250-381-2222. http://bc.cb.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/ViewPage.action?siteNodeId=87&languageId=1&contentId=13197

We would like to remind everyone about the importance of consent. Only yes means yes. UVic, the UVSS and the AVP have partnered on a great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1wRKTniHU8

Safer sex greatly reduces the risk of STIs and unwanted pregnancies:http://www.islandsexualhealth.org/sex-safety/
