Youth are a really big part of the work we do at ISHS. We want our organization and, most importantly, sexual health education and care to be as accessible to youth as possible so we actively encourage youth to give us feedback and help keep us as youth centred as possible.
We love the education we do with youth in the community; the energy, the enthusiasm, and their amazing questions! Our education program learns from more than 12,000 participants/year in schools and community based organizations, our youth committee works on special projects such as our youth health poster, film projects, and also provides feedback on our clinic spaces to keep them as welcoming and comfortable for youth as possible. Our New Youth Website – beyondthetalk.ca
Our new website for youth is now up and running! Check it out – it features projects from our youth committee and guest blog postings by members and includes information on birth control, STIs, pregnancy, relationships, sexual decision making, and more. It’s design and hosting has been generously donated by TheNumber Creative.
We also very excited to announce a texting program for youth to accompany the website. Youth are invited to text us at 250-812-9374 to have their sexual health questions answered anonymously by our clinic staff. Just another way that we are committed to taking sexual health education “beyond the talk.”
Our youth texting program is generously supported through funding from
