As you may be aware, the BC Cancer Agency has recently made changes to the cervical screening guidelines. The new guidelines include the following points:
- All people who have a cervix and are currently or have been sexually active with a partner will now begin cervical screening at the age of 25 and continue through the age of 69 unless advised differently by their health care provider.
- Cervical screening will be done every 3 years unless advised differently.
As always, if you have questions about what these new changes mean for your personal health and screening needs, please call us 250-592-3479 to set up an appointment.
*Reminder that cervical screening (pap) exams only screen the health of the cervix, they do not test for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
