Changes to Cervical Screening (pap) Guidelines

As you may be aware, the BC Cancer Agency has recently made changes to the cervical screening guidelines. The new guidelines include the following points:

  • All people who have a cervix and are currently or have been sexually active with a partner will now begin cervical screening at the age of 25 and continue through the age of 69 unless advised differently by their health care provider.
  • Cervical screening will be done every 3 years unless advised differently.

As always, if you have questions about what these new changes mean for your personal health and screening needs, please call us 250-592-3479 to set up an appointment.

*Reminder that cervical screening (pap) exams only screen the health of the cervix, they do not test for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
